Success in rock climbing depends not just on our technical ability, our fitness and overall strength but one of the most overlooked aspects of climbing performance which is our mind.

Whether you enjoy trad’ leads, multi-pitch classics, sport climbing, competition climbing, bouldering or a mixture of the above, how you perceive, react to your environment and reflect on your performances are likely to affect your current and future successes and failures.

Regardless of the grade you climb sometimes issues arise which impair performance, enjoyment and motivation such as:

  • Commitment issues (distorted/unrealistic)
  • Fear of falling (Inc. consequences)
  • Performance anxiety (social/competition)
  • Lack of motivation
  • Lack of focus (see fear of falling!)
  • Ineffective goal setting

Our role is to work with you to identify potential issues which may be affecting your performance and come up with positive solutions.

To help you we use a combination of techniques from: Sport and exercise psychological theory and practice, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Performance Coaching, Solution Focused Counselling and Sport Hypnosis.

We aim to be flexible in how we support our clients, we can work with you in a number of ways:
