Legal careers can be intellectually rewarding, stimulating and deeply fulfilling. They can also place constant demands on your attention, judgement and mental capacity.
Over time, some lawyers develop recurring patterns in the way they think and work. These patterns aren't a sign that something is wrong or that you're not capable. They're often natural responses to working in environments where deadlines are constant, expectations are high and there is always more to do. You might recognise some of these patterns in yourself:
Every lawyer's experience is different, and not everyone will recognise these patterns. But when they do appear, they can quietly affect performance, decision-making, confidence and wellbeing over time.
Through coaching, I help lawyers recognise these patterns, understand how they show up in their own work and develop practical ways to respond differently. The goal isn't simply to get more done. It's to think more clearly, do your best work and create more capacity for the people and things that matter most.
As a former corporate lawyer, legal recruiter and ICF ACC coach, I've spent more than 20 years working with lawyers at every stage of their careers. I understand the realities of client expectations, competing priorities, billable hours and the pressure to always be available.
Coaching isn't about working harder. It's about understanding yourself better, recognising the patterns that influence how you think and work, and developing approaches that are both more effective and more sustainable.
